About Katalyst:
Both Katalyst & Kimberly are different from other providers & that is intentional:
Let's start with a brutally honest statement. Both Katalyst and I are different from other service providers, coaches, counsellors and therapists. It's a reflection of the intentional combination of lived experiences and unique combinations of trainings. Those combinations are personal to the choices that have intentionally made and of course, reflect what the Katalyst process is and does. Each service provider will have their unique set of offerings, which is why there is someone for everyone. So the truth is, the Katalyst process work, is not going to be a fit for everybody based on where they are in their readiness and that is ok.
Part of what distinguishes Katalyst (Katalyst Integrated Trauma Treatment & the Katalyst Method ) from others who blend their experiences & approaches, is an ongoing commitment to redefining the landscape of trauma recovery. The Katalyst process is not trying to do the same old thing. Katalyst & Kimberly are not trying to do what other people do. That is intentional, not accidental.
Given my personal & professional experiences, transforming my own trauma history and working with thousands of others to transform theirs, I humbly recognize that true recovery & transformation transcends the limitations of traditional coaching and therapy and my unique integrated approach reflects this understanding.
Throughout the years of practice, and help from the many who have crossed my path in so many various ways, I've been able to identify & integrate crucial elements in trauma recovery and its subsequent growth opportunities and have developed The Katalyst Method to distill this knowledge & experience, in my own unique way.

This method delves deeper into the intricacies of trauma, ensuring that no stone is left unturned on the path to recovery & ultimate transformation. By skillfully weaving together therapeutic insights with action-oriented coaching, for spirit, body & mind, this method provides a balanced, progressive and comprehensive experience that goes beyond merely addressing symptoms.
Both Katalyst & Kimberly are committed and absolutely resolute in their mission to redefine trauma recovery, enabling individuals to not only heal but thrive by turning trauma into a catalyst for personal transformation.

Katalyst History...
As much as Katalyst has grown and evolved over time, it always beneficial to remember some of the foundational pieces, that have guided the path over the years...

Katalyst was originally created to help people who have experienced trauma, in all of its many forms, reclaim and recover their lives and has always been committed to being a trauma informed care practice.
Specifically a trauma-informed practice incorporates assessment of trauma and trauma symptoms into all areas of practice; it also ensures that clients have access to trauma-focused interventions, that is, interventions that treat the consequences of traumatic stress. A trauma-informed perspective considers clients from a place of “What happened to you?” not “What is wrong with you?”
Recognizing that traumatic events made people feel unsafe & powerless (among other things), trauma informed practice means focusing on the principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment, from an overall strengths based approach. Then developing a treatment plan to safely move to recovery, while not triggering or re-traumatizing the client.
The effects of trauma at any & every age, are far reaching and impact everything you thought you knew about yourself & others and how you now see, experience and show up in this world. It also impacts your relationships, your education, your career choices, how you may interact with your peers, those who have perceived and real authority and so much more.
All traumatic events count – one event or multiple events, whether it happened as a child or an adult, or both. It all counts. You count – you matter and what you have experienced matters and you deserve to heal from this. There is no scale of relativity, trauma is trauma.
There can be different levels of impact and its effects, but each & every trauma has an impact. So please don’t discount what happened to you as not as important as what has happened to others.
Conversely, please don’t think that too much has happened, that you will never recover. Neither of those statements are true.
This also includes those directly involved & supporting those who have had traumatic experiences. This is called vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue, and it is a real issue for those friends & family members who support those who have experienced the trauma itself.
Vicarious trauma / compassion fatigue can also be found in those who support trauma survivors in other ways, from counselors & therapists, to first responders, to lawyers, doctors & nurses who work the front lines to help those affected.
This is by no means a complete list, but it shows the reach of any traumatic event.Treating vicarious trauma is also a serious issue and deserves compassionate care, so you too can heal from what you are taking on to help someone you care about, even if moments ago, they were a complete stranger.
Trauma recovery is possible, no matter where you are in this moment, or what you may want help with personally or professionally, there is help and there is hope.
As a business person, I intentionally chose to train as both a coach & counsellor as I could see clearly where some benefit from an individual approach of one or the other, others will benefit from what else is possible when they combine & collaborate.
Once I decided to move from the business world and into the service oriented fields to work with people who have experienced trauma, I knew that I wanted to find meaningful ways to have all of my life experiences to be valuable and useful.
To that end, I have undertaken a wide variety of education and training in order to be able to do the work that I do with so many clients globally.
For many, it is difficult to know whether you want to work with a coach or a counsellor or how working with someone who has both, can or would be beneficial or useful.
In my opinion and experience, coaching and counselling are two distinct yet complimentary approaches to personal growth and when used collaboratively, they can provide a powerful and comprehensive support system.
Coaching focuses on forward-looking goals, motivation, and personal development, often helping you to identify and achieve your aspirations.
Counselling, on the other hand, delves into the past, emotions, and psychological well-being, aiding you in addressing and resolving issues from your history.
When these two approaches collaborate, they help you as a client succeed because you get the benefit from a well-rounded experience.
Counselling can help unearth and heal deep-seated emotional wounds, that may be blocks to your personal or professional growth and providing the necessary foundation for moving forward, while coaching can guide in setting and achieving specific, future-oriented goals.
This collaboration creates a holistic framework for self-discovery, trauma recovery and transformation, ensuring that you not only move forward from past trauma or challenges but also move ahead with a renewed sense of purpose and empowerment, ultimately helping you to thrive in all areas of life.
It's a dynamic partnership that respects the past, embraces the present, and propels you toward a brighter future.

I truly find for my client population the mix of both is truly helpful. That said, I do have clients who wish for one approach or the other, and that too can be successful when clearly communicated and committed to. So the choice is really up to you.
